UK - Tea halts train!

Strange. We often spill tea on the controls of our steam engines and it never seems to cause a problem...Wrong leaves on the line?
In March, a National Express East Coast service from King's Cross was halted at Finsbury Park with the driver reporting that he'd lost the front lights, apparently after tea was spilt over the controls. The train returned to King's Cross for fitters' attention and had to be cancelled.
