Accident at St Gallen. Northern Switzerland

Yet again a passenger did not heed the warnings given by the Swiss railway authorities. This afternoon a man saw that the train that he wanted to travel in had started to move out of platform two at St Gallen station, and he ran and tried to open the door. When the train speed reaches 5 km/h the doors will automatically close and lock and cannot be opened again until the train is stationary. The man lost his balance and fell between the train and the platform. Fortunately for him the train guard saw what was happening and managed to carry out an emergency brake application. The man suffered a major injury to his back, but thankfully did not lose his life as was the case recently in Zürich.

Interesting. One forgets that people get complacent about trying to get into carrages at the last moment....!

Reminds me of the signs on the coach doors "DO NOT OPEN THE DOORS UNTIL THE TRAIN HAS STOPPED"
