Wonderful Old Tinplate Hornby Loco - Help with Info please!
Posted: 16 Oct 2009, 11:03
A pensioner who has this loco (which was passed on to him as a child!!!!) has asked me to try and find out what information I can on the loco itself (part of a set).
So, who can help?
The loco is clockwork and tinplate and mechanically is in excellent condition. The dome is brass! It also has splendid markings, very detailed.
Note the controls coming out the back of the cab for its operation, as well as the couplings.
Width of the wheels - 4 cm (the markings on the board are 1 cm blocks).
Questions.....
Type of engine?
Age?
Anything else of interest about this loco or the set it comes with (I believe coaches).
Possible value?
Pictures...............
1 - In all its glory. A lovely engine.
2 - Note the brass dome!
3 - Front
4 - Rear view - note the controls for the clcokwork.
5 - Closeup of mechanism - really clean too!
6 - Underside - looks new from this angle!
