2409: footplate
Posted: 31 Oct 2009, 14:21
Today we cleaned the footplate of 2409, for no better reason than that it offended my fireman's sensibilities to see such a dirty footplate.
"Before and after" photos don't really do justice to several hours hard work with paraffin, soap powder, Brasso, rags and scrubbing brush, especially on a loco where the paintwork is dull and flaking, but for what it's worth, the first photo is "before" and the rest are "after". It looks better in real life!
