This train came past me this morning on the Simons Town line. Is this a new colour scheme?

No Alan its our Set X that runs CT - Bellville via Monte Vista. Maybe they giving her a run on the Southern Suburbs line. The colours were down as an inter transport system. We had some buses with the same colours. Some Politicians complained that it looked like the DA Colours.

I wonder what colour the new PRASA Rail will be. Will they change the Metrorail yellow/grey and Shosholoza purple/yellow/blue change to the PRASA blue?

Alan thats correct. Its an all first class train. I think though that on our line anyone with a ticket hops in there. I don't think they check the tickets on the train anymore.

They do check tickets regularly, normally in large groups. Both on the trains and on the platforms. There is often a large presence of police as an extra to the ticket inspectors.
