Thank you for giving us this interesting impressions.

You might think that the shunter is broad and you are right. But always when I saw the steam locos in South Africa when I was there, I
thought they are much bigger than our steam locos, even if you have only the 1067 mm guage and we have the 1435 mm gauge like the shunter in your picture.

South African railways have a very broad loading gauge despite having a narrow track gauge. Ironically the broad gauge (ie standard gauge) Gautrain has a smaller loading gauge as it is basically a British train with new bogies (and a few extra traction motors), built to the very limited British loading gauge.

That diesels are broad. Too broad to fit into the Gautrain tunnels..
