John, is it only the body of the loco?
Because I don't see rails.
Do you have another picture of that scene?

It's standing on rails over an inspection pit in the workshop. I don't remember now whether it was standing on its own bogies or on the temporary bogies that they use to move loco bodies around the workshop. I don't think I have any more pictures of this specific scene, but there are quite a few pictures of the workshops in the Kenya diesels section, and some of them show the inspection pits and also the temporary bogies.

What is interesting is how much narrower the track gauge looks compared with the slightly wider Cape gauge. The difference is small, only 65mm, but somehow in this picture that difference appears to be visually emphasised. Perhaps this is just an illusion caused by the camera angle; perhaps it is the bulky, massive look of the "cab overall" loco design.

Good morning.
I had now again a closer view at the picture and -- yes I see the rails. I have must been blind yesterday.
The loco looks really wide compared o the track gauge.
