Kevin and I had a preliminary look in the smokebox of 5918 today (see photo), in preparation for a steam test (using steam either from 3020 or the stationary boiler) on Sunday or Monday to try to determine exactly what is the problem. We also had a look at a few other things that need fixing, including brakes, cylinder cocks and oil burners.

Meanwhile the Steam Team have begun to arrive in Nairobi from their rural retirement to prepare 3020 for her outing on Sunday. First priority tomorrow is to fuel and water the locomotive.
