OT: UN helicopters in South Sudan

I've spent more time than I would like riding in UN helicopters over the last few months as I have been involved in the peace process to resolve inter-communal conflicts in Jonglei State, South Sudan. The UN peace-keeping force, UNMISS, has provided a lot of our logistics. Most of the photos were taken by me in Waat and Bor in April and May 2012. The picture of me was taken by a colleague in November or December 2011 - can't remember whether it was in Waat, Pieri or Pibor, nor even who took it (Ferdinand? Chris?).

I think most of the helicopters are Mi 8, plus one heavy lift helicopter, but I'm open to correction by experts.

The helicopters are.

I like the kite shot - I used to feed them my school sandwiches - they would zoom down and snatch them out of my hand!
