French train delays mapped: when and where are you most likely to be late?

MIT's Senseable City Lab has partnered with French rail operators SNCF to map delays to high speed trains over the course of a week. Trains are represented by coloured markers, with size corresponding to number of passengers and colour to severity of delay. Clusters of delayed services often appear, suggesting disruption from engineering work, local weather conditions or one delayed train holding up others. Take Tuesday night, for example, where most services to and from Metz are running late. Early mornings tend to see services at their most punctual, with inefficiency generally increasing through the day. Read more about the project here.
