AAE special railcars carry 4 m high trailers through Channel tunnel

The railfreight operator Europorte Channel and the global logistics service provider Ewals Intermodal carried out tests for transporting mega trailers with a 4 m corner height through the Channel tunnel. The train, hauling its first Euro megatrailers to the UK, ran from the Combinant terminal in Antwerp (Belgium) to Barking (London). The large volume trailers were loaded onto six-axle Sdggmrss twin wagons built by the Swiss company AAE Ahaus Alstätter Eisenbahn AG. This special railcar has been designed and manufactured for the carriage of modern trailers.
