Having just looked up a World War I derailment and posted a link on the forum, a vague memory of a World War II railway disaster in which hundreds of people suffocated in a tunnel came to mind, so I looked that up too. The following two accounts don't seem to be very complete and I'm sure I've read far more detailed accounts in books; maybe somebody can add more information?
