Crossing of the new - class 39

FOTR, crossing the new 39 class diesels, on trials as well, in the yard at
Capital Park. The bright new colours stand out well, but steam locomotives
only look their best in black

Who supplied the Class 39 (GE or EMD) and what engine do they have ?
When last did SA get a batch of new mainline diesels ?

These are rebuilds of Class 34s. Only 5 done; the new 39-200 series is on the way, new-built but composed of parts sourced from everywhere...they are coming together at Koedoespoort. Our last mainline diesels were Class 37s delivered in the early eighties.
