We have been informed that FOTR member Dennis White passed away early this morning (28 August 2009) after a brave battle against cancer. Leisel Hagen selflessly gave up her time and energy to help care for him in his final days. Our thoughts and condolences are with Leisel and all members of his family as well as his friends and acquaintances at this sad time.
RIP, Dennis, from all of us at FOTR.

In spite of being ill Dennis came down to the site quite often up to only a couple months ago to add his hand to some of our renovation needs. We will miss him and his DIY hand. Thanks also to Liesel for her care and concern - also thanks to Liesel for her own able DIY hand.

Re: Dennis White - RIP
I went to Dennis' plot to remove his dogs, the day before he moved out there 3 weeks ago. Even then, I was shocked at his appearance. The suffering of a cancer patient one cannot underestimate. Thankfully, he is in a better place now. I wish his family and Liesel's family all the best at this difficult time.
On a happier note, the dogs seem to have settled in well at Hermanstad. They will be a living momento to Dennis.

TO Friends of the Rail,
Thankyou so much for your condolances. Dennis will be sadly missed but I know he's in a better place where there is no more suffering. I had the privilage of caring for him these last three weeks before he died. He spoke so highly of the Friends of the Rail and he was so happy helping with the restoration work. Bless you all for caring so much.
Regards
Pam Elston (Dennis's sister).
