A NEW BOOK ON RAILWAYS & LOCOMOTIVES IN EAST AFRICA
Roelant Ramaer's book Gari la Moshi - an update of his 1970s book Steam Locomotives of the East African Railways has now been published by Frank Stenvalls.
Can't find it on Amazon yet. There are reports that Motor Books (near Leicester Square, London) are going to carry it.
I've recently obtained a copy of his earlier book, Steam Locomotives of the East African Railways - very good.

Back in Kenya with all the railway-related stuff that people asked me to obtain for them in UK, waiting for my next firing turn in South Africa to deliver it all safe and sound!

TO add to John's post re costs and postage.
I have been in touch with Frank and........
* The book will not be available on Amazon
* Paypal cannot be used for payment
* Credit card payment is 100% and prefered
* Price (as per John 375 SEK (Kroner) BUT deduct VAT and the net is SEK 354.
* Airmail postage to South Africa - one copy can be sent in a padded air mail bag at a preferential rate of SEK 121.
There is little saving if a bulk order is placed, so if you want a copy you may as well go ahead and order when you have the money - and while the exchange rate is in our favour! Exchange rate currently ZAR 1.06 per SEK.

Already ordered my copy, but I'm having it sent to a UK address so I'm afraid I won't see it until Christmas when my nephew comes to visit me and brings it with him.

Re: "Gari la Moshi" - new EA railways book
I've now got my copy and have had time to look at it, although not to read it in detail. In many respects this is not a new book, but a new and revised edition of Ramaer's earlier Steam Locomotives of the East African Railways. However it was well worth the wait. It is a comprehensive guide to steam in East Africa, with many great pictures, plenty of history and a great deal of useful information.
