36-004 and a metro

Post by allanroy »

Now here is something you dont see everyday. a Diesel Electric metro. I have put it under the Diesel section as the diesel was pulling, except when it went back the other way I think it may have been under electric power.

This was taken on the Simons Town line which is still closed between Simons Town and Fish Hoek, This week teams of maintaince crews have been removing the sand covering the track and today this train was going back and forth. Quite a few sparks coming from the overhead cables in places.

I think that this train is trying to keep the overhead power cable serviceable and rubbing off the rust.

This is certainly unique Allan. I have never seen three drive coaches in action alone and with a diesel. How many times did they run up and down.

Not sure how many times it went up and down but was busy for about a hour, still sand over the track at Dido valley so it could not go all the way to Simons Town.

When it left Fish Hoek the Diesel separated and each went on there on own
