Just to inform everyone that Atlantic Rail has formed "Friends of Atlantic Rail". This is the volunteer preservation arm of the main company. We are non-profit and provide our services as follows:
a) Provide volunteers for cleaning and preparation of steam locomotives for AR.
b) Provide volunteers for cleaning and preparation of coaches for AR.
c) Training of coach controllers, platform controllers and Train Managers.
d) Training of fireman and drivers for AR.
e) Weekly work sessions for all rolling stock.
f) Information on steam trips in and around Cape Town
g) General railway interest.
h) Restoration of vintage rolling stock.
Membership costs R100.00 per year and is open to anyone, subject to Exco approval. Work sessions are voluntary.
We even have the use of a clubhouse in the form of private saloon #82.

Dylan. Good to hear of progress in the fairest Cape. How is the main company, Atlantic Rail, structured? Is it also not for gain?
