Hungary - Steam Loco 424-247 steams from Óbuda-Esztergom rtn

Post by Gabor Kovacs »

As Europe steam season starts to slow down for the upcoming winter months and year end festivities, I was alerted to yet another piece of interesting video footage, on YouTube, captured this past weekend in Hungary.

Under cloudy, overcast and rainy skies the sole working Hungarian Railways steam loco 424-247 (class 424 No 247) is at the head of an 11 coach passenger train (some with bogies, others with 2 axles), operated by Hungarian Railway Museum, heads north-east out of Óbuda station, in Budapest, to Esztergom, a boarder town with Slovakia, on the southern shores of the Danube Rivier, and returns to Óbuda station.

Well worth watching!!

Enjoy

PS. I hope to find some interesting video footage soon, of the Hungarian Steam Grand Prix, whch is currently taking place this weekend, at the Hungarian Railway Museum, in Budapest!
