Gautrain: Airport trains now also service Marlboro Stn

Post by Steve Appleton »

From Railways Africa, June 15, 2011:

Since the line to the airport opened a year ago, it has not been possible to travel by Gautrain to the airport from Marlboro without backtracking to Sandton first. The ruling, inexplicable to everyone and the subject of much irate comment in the press, has now been reversed – without any explanation for its extraordinariness. According to media manager for the Bombela Concession Company Kelebogile Machaka, the change will provide passengers with more convenience. However, the ban still applies at Rhodesfield. Commuters here who wish to travel to the airport – about 2km to the east – are still required to go west to Sandton first.

From the end of June, passengers to and from Pretoria will be able to transfer to airport trains at Marlboro – saving them the need to do so at Sandton, as was previously suggested would be necessary.
