Girl Dies After Train Accident On Night Out

A 16-year-old girl has died after falling under a train in Liverpool on a night out with friends.

Georgia Varley apparently slipped and fell between the train and the platform at James Street station.

It happened as she was running to catch up with her friends who were already on the train.

The group, which included her boyfriend, were returning home to nearby Wirral.

Around 50 people were waiting on the platform and witnessed the accident on Saturday night. A number were treated for shock.

Georgia was a student at Birkenhead Sixth Form College.

Family and friends have posted tributes to her on Facebook.

Her father, Paul, told the Liverpool Daily Post: "She was so loved and she never had an upside down smile on. She was such a happy girl.

"I would say to her: 'You're always changing between groups of friends' but she made an impression on so many people."
