First non-stop train between Scotland and London since 1930s

Post by John Ashworth »

Virgin propose non-stop rail link to London

THE first non-stop train between Scotland and London since the 1930s, which would cut journeys from Glasgow to below four hours, has been proposed today by Virgin Trains...

[NB: I can't remember whether there have been any non-stop specials, but this would be the first regular timetabled train]

John,

There were some timetabled non-stops pre electrification, but this involved an un-timetabled stop for a crew change at Carlisle while the locomotive ran through

Thanks, Ian. Interesting and probably not widely known.
