No - I cannot find anything ion the Internet, though a search on restructuring brings up something on this topic since 2002 around every few months!! Maybe it is a permanent restructuring exercise?

Transnet Freight Rail is the new name for Spoornet since some time in 2007. I don't know what detailed restructuring has taken place. We hear that TFR is concentrating on freight and that Shosholoza Meyl and other non-freight activities (eg some mothballed or lightly used lines) are being taken over by the Department of Transport. And the Blue Train is being sold.

Apparently there is also a moratorium in place preventing the leasing of state owned (stations) property. Sound normal?
