South African narrow gauge in Wales

Post by John Ashworth »

Photos here of NG/G16 no. 143, with 10 coaches and a Bo-Bo Funkey diesel (ex Eastern Province Cement) on the back running a test train yesterday over seven miles or so of the next stage of the WHR to be re-opened. This was the first time that a steam loco had traversed some of this trackbed since about 1936. Ex-SAR Garratts nos. 87, 138, 140 and 143 can expect to be running through in the years to come, not to mention eventually NG15s 133, 134, and maybe 120 as well.
