Soweto trains collide - Metrorail
Eight people were injured after two trains collided in Soweto on Friday, Metrorail said.

Western regional manager Paul Zikale said that at about 8.50am the two trains, with about 1 800, passengers collided at the Orlando West station.

"All injured have been taken to the Chris Hani-Baragwanath Hospital for treatment.

"We cannot confirm the cause of the collision at this stage as Metrorail officers are still investigating," he said.

Train lines should be re-opened by 11.30am and more information on the incident will be released later. - Sapa .

Wasn't there also a Metro train derailment in Durban this week. The driver was chased from the scene by angry commuters.

Week before last (Durban that is). There has now been a bit more news on the Soweto derailment, but no mention of the cause. Few injuries - they say there 1,800 on the 2 trains (12 coaches each I assume).
