2650 has passed her internal boiler inspection. We hope to have the hydraulic inspection completed within the next few days.

Spoke to Les W at the site, who has taken a weeks leave from work to assist on 2650, has confirmed the following:
Boiler inspector Pine Brits was out there and had done the internal inspection and was very happy. Prior to this Brian Dadford had ultrasonic tested the inner firebox and tubes and both tube plates, to find, no problems at all.

Les and Des, the boiler maker, have been closing up the loco, and the dome ring has been annealed and dome closed up, valves have been ground in and sealed with silicon. Various other valves have been ground in and washout plugs have been fitted. Today, Thursday 5th June, they will close up all necessary parts and fill the boiler and perform a pre test hydraulic to check for leaks. Pine, is due out for the hydraulic on FRIDAY.
We are very positive about this loco and if she passes, this will be a huge pat on the back for the alternate technical team!! If only the F could go the same way, but lets see when all are back.

Dylan!

There are two 19D's left at Millsite. See list from HRASA, however as mentioned earlier the list below (see URL) is inaccurate.
http://www.friendsoftherail.com/phpBB2/ ... hp?id=3345

The two 19D's are 2540 and the other is 2709??

The 19D 2709 with the box tender has domeless boiler, while and 19D 2540 has a Vanderbilt Tender and has a domed boiler! I personally prefer a boiler that has I dome, as these boilers are less likely to prime.

See second picture in this http://www.friendsoftherail.com/phpBB2/ ... 215&t=2196, and see third picture in this http://www.friendsoftherail.com/phpBB2/ ... 215&t=2201.

Boiler inspector wrote:Just to confirm that I did accept the pressure test on 2650, even though
there was some drop in the pressure as a result on the main dome leaking on
the sealing face. I was not concern because it could be rectified after the
pressure test. Not other leaks could be noted during the pressure test.

When do you plan on having the boiler on steam for the setting of the safety
valve?

Have you decided on the Name Plate and if please confirm the info and faxed
it back in order for me to get the wheel rolling to get the Name plate
fabricated. Legally you must have a Name plate on the Boiler.
