A derailment on Saturday on the line to South Africa's Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) has resulted in a loss of around 400 000 tons of coal and pushed RBCT stocks down to 2-million tons, transport sources said.

A total of 26 coal wagons derailed on Saturday, closing both lines to RBCT.

Both lines were cleared and repaired earlier on Tuesday, a spokesman for rail operator Transnet Freight Rail said.
