Scores injured in Belgium train collision
July 03 2008 at 01:51PM

Brussels - A commuter train has collided with a freight train in south-east Belgium, injuring 30 passengers.

The accident occurred on Thursday during the morning commute on a rail-line near the city of Liege. Officials say six of the injured were taken to the hospital.

Frederic Petit of Infrabel, the company responsible for railway maintenance, told VRT radio that most of the injuries were slight.

He said the commuter train, which carried 50 people on board, was heading to Liege from the nearby city of Namur. Investigators are investigating the cause of the crash. - Sapa-AP
