Information about SAR/SAS

Post by Thomas_Williams »

Hi everyone,

I am trying to find more information about SAR/SAS but there is no specific webpage on wikipedia and the other links have not been that helpful, so perhaps people here in the forum can give me a hand. What I am trying to understand is:

- Years that the company was operational (such as from 1960-1990)
- Main liveries used for locomotives, coaches and cargo wagons and years (such as Gulf Red on electric locos from 1965 till 1980)
- Main logos and years (such as the Bird from 1955-1970)

Many thanks to all!!!

There's a very good series on Wikipedia with a page for every type of locomotive used by SAR and Spoornet. It's not specifically about liveries and dates, but at least some of those pages do contain that information - I just looked at the page for the 12E, for example, at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Afr ... MetroBlitz.
