Friday, 24 October 2008

Engineering News quotes Gauteng MEC for Public Transport, Roads and Works Ignatius Jacobs saying that consultants are currently being appointed to look at the structure of the Moloto Road corridor rail project - a new commuter line running from Tshwane into Mpumalanga. The first estimates for cost amount to R9.7 billion and the project will be to the “same standards” (including gauge) as Gautrain, according to Jack van der Merwe, Engineering News says. “Lots of Gautrain expertise is being used to develop the Moloto corridor,” van der Merwe is quoted saying.
