Re: 2650 Leaving Cullinan
I was thinking that myself. Somewhere I've got an old framed picture of a Dolly hauling a suburban set out of Cullinan during jacaranda season taken in the 1970s, and the similarities are striking!

Re: 2650 Leaving Cullinan
The cellphone tower in the background gives it away! Apart from that, the cynics amongst us would ask "what has changed in Cullinan since 1970?"
Aidan, a lovely photo which I have chosen to place on the FOTR website front page. It's a pity that we train staffers, eyes screwed up against the cinders, never get to see the magnificence of a setting such as this.
I do believe that is my gray head sticking out of the caboose door!

Good classic Cullinan Jacaranda photo. Well done!
Re: 2650 Leaving Cullinan
And the Jacaranda's still show lavender pink after smokey has gone by. A great pic - but what I've come to expect from Mr. Mc.Carthy. I take it the Cullinan station is not far behind that curve, seeing that the cylinder cocks are still open.

Re: 2650 Leaving Cullinan
Lee, you are right; the station is about 500 metres back. The curve is on a tough 1:50 grade that starts about 100 metres out of the station, just after the level crossing. The cocks were re-opened for the benefit of the photogs.
