Railway workers who lost their lives in conflict are to be remembered at special services.

Rail staff members are gathering at stations in Birmingham and Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, for a Remembrance Service honouring railway staff.

Wreaths were laid at the Great Western Railway Roll of Honour at Birmingham Moor Street station and a silence observed at 1100 GMT.

A second two-minute silence will be held at Leamington Spa at 1430 GMT.

A spokesman said thousands of railway staff died while serving their country.

The services will also pay tribute to current railway staff serving overseas as members of the Reserve Forces.
