A 16-year-old boy has died from electrocution after being found on a railway line in West Sussex.

The body of the boy was recovered by emergency services called to Burgess Hill station at 0130 GMT after reports of a teenager falling on to the line.

British Transport Police (BTP) said the boy was pronounced dead at hospital.

A spokesman said the death was not being treated as suspicious and that there was no-one else involved. BTP are liaising with the boy's next of kin.

"The boy was taken from the track in front of the platform and it was apparent that he had been electrocuted," said the spokesman.

He said no other information would be released while investigations continued.
