chilean trains 1

Post by Richard Mancilla »

In 1935 came through the port of Talcahuano 10 locomotives assigned to the German Henschel. Included a provision of wheels (or axles) 4-8-4 and were intended for passenger services between Santiago and Chillán then they were reinforced bridges and roads for the passage of these locomotives 134.6 tonnes. At present only survives exhibited in the museum of the Quinta Normal rail locomotive No. 1009 just as silent witness to the huge railway traffic, high demand of passengers and the monopoly of Railways on any other means of transport in the 30.
