re-used caboose
In my wanderings, I have come across a number of old railroad cabooses. Here is a photo of one I saw on Sunday, 12th July 2009 while traveling on route 22 in New York state. From caboose to diner....

You must buy one for a guest house, model train room etc!
Still a few for sale here and there, but going fast...................
Consider also a trolley (motorised). I see from my mags they have these trolly outings/runs - must be good fun!

Re: re-used caboose
When I was footloose and fancy free and wandering around the US of A a few years ago I seriously considered buying one. I had a friend with lots of land and I thought about siting it there as a little place to stay if I decided to visit the USA more regularly. There were plenty on sale all over the country at that time. So I would hearily recommend that Turtle gets one for all of the steam community to stay in when they come to visit him!

Re: re-used caboose
Sorry John, a caboose would not be enough. I am now part of acommunity in which life went on in structures called a 'longhouse', a long building which was shared by two or more families. Not all Indians lived in teepees or wigwams! However, obtaining one of those old dome cars or 'skyliners' would be just great. Especially if it was in a siding near a engine house which still had steam engines working there.......

Re: re-used caboose
I saw one caboose where the upstairs cupola had been converted into a cosy little lounge with an all-round view. Now imagine what you could do with the upstairs of one of the dome cars...
