Cleaning the Red Devil

Post by John Ashworth »

Dylan wrote:On Saturday three local enthusiasts (all under 30) decided to give Red Devil 3450 a good clean. We volunteered our services and purchased all the cleaning material & paint. Loco was covered in thick dust and to make matters worse no one emptied the ashpan 5 years ago!

All brass / copper was painted black to reduce chances of theft, motion wiped with paraffin and entire loco thoroughly cleaned. 8 hrs later we were only halfway.

Next week we hope to finish the job and then give 3655 a good clean.
