Steam locos at Cape Town

Post by John Ashworth »

I visited the steam locos in Cape Town Station this morning. There's the Red Devil, a 25NC, a 15F and the 24 class that Spier was using - I didn't get the numbers but I expect others know them. They're all looking very sad.

Much to my delight I found fitter Robin Vice working on the 24 class - he did sterling work on FOTR's 15F 3117 almost a year ago. Robin showed me that virtually all the pipes on the footplate of the 24 have been cut off - fortunately the fittings are still there.

The 24 is due to run again under Ian Pretorius' banner, I believe.
