CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF RAILWAYS IN SA!

SATURDAY 25 SEPTEMBER 2010, 16h00-21h00 FOTR DEPOT, CAPITAL PARK, PRETORIA

Join Friends of the Rail as we pay tribute to 150 years of railways in South Africa, on
Heritage weekend 2010.

We meet at the FOTR Capital Park depot on Saturday 25 September at 16h00, where two
steam locomotives will be available for photography as they move around the depot. In
keeping with the heritage theme, our locomotive and train staff will be dressed in the
period costume of the old South African Railways.

Then, as the sun sets and the full moon rises, enjoy a boerewors roll and cool drink as
we set the stage up for the night session.

With floodlights provided, our old steam locos crewed by their drivers, firemen and
guards will perform a wonderful variety of night action for the cameras.

Sip real railway coffee and “dunk an Ouma” as we watch a recreation of the way the
railways used to be, of a timeless age which has vanished into history, but which is kept
alive by Friends of the Rail.

The fee for the event is R250, payable in advance to guarantee participation. The price
includes the abovementioned refreshments.
