Shlosholoza Meyl: trains shredded

Post by Steve Appleton »

Don't wait around for the train. It's easier to walk than to take a train these days.

SHOSHOLOZA MEYL SERVICES SHREDDED

Posted on 27 September 2010

The revised list of Shosholoza Meyl intercity services in South Africa – apart from “economy” (former 3rd class) trains – is as follows:

1. Premier Classe: only the Cape Town-Johannesburg service remains, running twice weekly in both directions.

2. The Cape Town-Johannesburg “tourist class” service to run three times weekly in both directions.

3. The Johannesburg-Port Elizabeth “tourist class” service to run twice weekly in both directions.

The following “tourist class” services fall away altogether:
• Johannesburg-Durban
• Johannesburg-Komatipoort
• Johannesburg-Musina
• Cape Town-Durban (Orange Express)
