- A passenger sleeps comfortably, taking up two seats, boots on the seat. Maybe that's considered normal in the USA?

- A fire near the track in Manhattan disrupted all northbound services from Penn Station. We were bussed to Grand Central, took a metro train to Croton Harmon, managed to get the Amtrak as far as Albany NY, and then Amtrak put us in a taxi to our final destination, Castleton VT. This is the train waiting in Croton Harmon for instructions - it took about an hour before the crew were told what to do
