Should anyone be interested in a quick trip around the country by train - Shosholoza Meyl currently offers a 30% discount on all return journeys, including Premier Classe trains. This continues until 30 September 2012.
Then, some more encouraging local train news.
- Sleeper accommodation has been added to the Amatola train between Johannesburg - East London - Johannesburg, which runs daily except Saturdays.
- The weekly Cape Town - East London and Cape Town - Queenstown services resumed at the beginning of September.
- The Orange Express between Durban and Cape Town makes a welcome comeback from 1 October 2012, departing Cape Town on Mondays and Durban on Wednesdays.
It is not clear whether these will be permanent operations or if they will once again be withdrawn after the Summer holiday season, as happened last year.
Regards
Ashley
