NRZ training Spoornet drivers in 2006

Post by Philip Martin »

A 2006 Railways Africa article says that Spoornet had sent 28 locomotive drivers to Zimbabwe for a training course. There were rumors that experienced NRZ personnel were moving to South Africa due to poor working conditions and wages. I wonder if this was actually the case.

It must have been around that time that I met some Zimbabwean drivers and firemen who had come to South Africa to train with Rovos Rail.

Can you give us the link to that article, Philip?

Some two or three year old articles in the International Railway Journal discussing revival of NRZ, possibly with Transnet aid.
